The Works...

There were many new things I learned while listening and reading this tutorial. It was a dry tutorial, but it was very useful in the end. The skills I learned were, when and how to use footnotes. Also that scholarly journals are the best kind of research you can find. They can back up your facts the best, unlike internet websites, that can be made by just anyone. You can use news magazines as well, but it’s hard to kind the supported sources, it’s best to just not use them at all. Another new tip I learned is how to read the numbers in the library when finding books. All books are placed in sections of theme along with a number that shows the order they are going to follow. Learning to use the online library catalog is very simple, especially since my lovely professor Vallier taught us well.

I now feel more confident in my researching skills. Using these tutorials have helped me find that researching in the library doesn’t have to be a scary thing, it’s actually very simple to do. The steps in the videos were clear and easy to remember. I never knew an encyclopedia could offer so much information with such little text. It’s really nice to know that the information is cited, which helps to get the info you need easily. They aren’t lengthy, but help you find other sources you never thought of before. Next time I need to do a little research I can handle it, I’m sure.

Old Spice | The Man Your Man Could Smell Like

Many commercials have witty ADs, or ones that make a great impact, maybe even a small one, but the AD I love watching the most and makes the best campaign is Old Spice. It’s a brand that’s been around for about 50 years, it’s an AD we have grown with and know we can trust it to last. The Old Spice shower gel and deodorant never was an interest to me, considering it is for males and I wouldn't be needing that. Once these new commercials starting appearing, I was like, "Hey my dad uses this and wow this guy is so funny." This commercial may seem as it’s geared for men, but I think it’s not. This AD is directly speaking to women and husband’s always listen to their wives. This way of campaigning this AD is genius work. I have DVR and always pass though the commercials, but when this one plays, I like to stop and watch it. All the other commercials out there are so annoying and repetitive, but the Old Spice one is entertaining and just never gets old. This AD doesn’t make you want to buy Old Spice at the present time, but I know when your out at Publix or any connivence store looking for shower gel or deodorant you’ll immediately see Old Spice and buy it. This commercial will hit your mind and make you think, “I remember this brand it’s that guy whose always saying look at me, now back at your husband stuff.” All in all, Old Spice is an amazing AD.

"Though the Sawgrass"

As I make my way to the lake with paper and pen in hand, down the little hill behind my dorm. Through the itchy, sharp grass, toward where I always sit. Sitting here on the sand makes my thinking process much clearer. I enjoy reading out here with the sound of soft waves. It’s wet now and the rain has made the water level rise causing the rock I would always sit on to become submerged. Yet this didn’t stop my writing, I looked for another place to sit. The lake is calm today and dark, the weather is very gloomy, there’s not even any boats out. All I hear is the chirping of birds in the distance hidden among the sawgrass. The lake isn’t still but as the wind blows across, it forms small waves that gently move the algae I was looking at. I poke it, feeling its warm gooey texture. The sand feels wonderful between my toes, it’s so mushy and familiar. I wish I could smell the lake today, but my allergies got the best of me while I was away back at home. All I can smell though is the bug spray, I put on before I came out here and eww I just tasted the bug spray that was nasty, I hate when that happens, now the taste is stuck in my mouth. As I let that moment pass, I look into the water that the little fish making bubbles along the top, while searching for some food along the algae. Then my focus changes to the water bugs their odd shaped bodies just zipping along the top of the water like miniature speed boats. Though I want to stay in this tranquil place the clouds over head are dark, I better get out of here before I get caught in this downpour. I love to sit here and do my homework assignments and read, but I know I’ll be back soon.
